Topic: Which of these guitarists is the most technically brilliant?
+Anonymous A — 13.3 years ago #23,242
Fuck feel and emotion, we're only talking technique here.
My vote goes to Vai, but I can't miss this opportunity to post a video of the very fuckin weird but supernaturally talented Buckethead. How many people have you seen do a techno breakdance with nunchuks at a Guns n Roses concert and then do a blistering guitar solo?

The poll suggest otherwise. Thanks and all for replying within 30 seconds of the thread but what say you go play in one of the other ones instead of shitting this one up with your pictures, like, for example...

Satriani is way overrated.

I agree, but he was the first of that bunch and the teacher of several of them (such as Vai), so as a pioneer he at least deserves recognition.

Yes, found some Umphrey's McGee videos on Youtube. Great player, thanks for the recommendation.

Nice. Glad you like them. They're one of my favorites and I think Jake holds his own against any of the well known super technical players :)
Look for the song "bridgeless". It's super hard and progressive. Right up your alley.
