It's a hard drive from a Sony VAIO that bit the dust. I had issues with the blank drive I was trying to install onto, so I figured I'd cut my losses and just use the Vista install for the time being. So, it's a desktop computer booting a laptop drive with a copy of Vista that was factory installed and configured, and it's pouting because it recognizes the hardware as being from a different system.

That's also why the desktop is black. Apparently Windows thinks disabling wallpaper will make people break down and buy a key. But it's black, which is easy on the eyes. If they really wanted to prod people they'd use the aqua/green default color from Windows 95.

Working mothers today don't always have time to make a casserole for dinner in between work and soccer practice. Sometimes you just need a quick dinner that doesn't come with a toy. Asian noodles offer an easy, economical meal with a variety of flavors. We've selected five brands of quick Asian noodles to assess based on readers’ feedback about decision makers and breakers in the grocery isle.
The noodles chosen are single-serving, just-add-water, Asian noodle soups. In our study, we found that Udon noodles have the best value, based on top ranks in flavor, preparation time, convenience, and price.
We evaluated five categories selected by reader poll. The #1 priority selected was flavor. We assessed this based on feedback from ten taste testers, as well as the number of varieties available. The second priority was preparation time, which we calculated based on the cook time combined with the time needed to boil the proper amount of water in a microwave. Surprisingly, nutritional value was ranked third in importance. This was calculated based on the percentage of calories from fat and %DV of sodium. Convenience was #4 and rated by availability and need for refrigeration. Most astonishingly, price was considered least important by our readers. Price value was calculated both by overall cost, as well as price per ounce.
Our taste testers found that An Lien and Pulmuone noodles had the overall best flavor and texture, followed by Udon brand noodles, which were considered to be “the most like homemade”. Vifon bean thread noodles did not fare so well, ranking only ‘average’ in flavor, with complaints about the sogginess of the noodles. Hi-5 noodles scored very poorly with seven tasters describing the flavor as “unpleasant”. Udon was the winner in variety, with four selections to choose from. An Lein and Pulmuone ranked average with two varieties. Vifon bean thread and Hi-5 brands came last again with only one flavor each.
For preparation time, Udon was fastest with five-six minutes. Vifon bean thread took 6 minutes. The rest came in at over 8 minutes.
Udon came in at the top again for nutritional value with only 1 in 26 calories from fat. An Lein and Pulmuone tied for second with 1 in 11. Vifon bean thread had 1/8 calories from fat, while Hi-5 had 1/3. An Lein and Pulmuone also tied for least sodium (46%DV).
