Yeah Scott Weiland left, and apparently Chester Bennington was chosen as his replacement. Apparently he's already done a concert with them.
To expand on my comparison, Ozzy will always be the voice of Sabbath in my opinion, but Ronnie was a stellar performer when Ozzy stepped out. The thing is, they both have fairly unique voices. I'm not 100% sure if I remember correctly which songs Chester sings on with LP, but it doesn't strike me as being similarly harmonic to Scott, like Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder on Hunger Strike.

It's such a terrible replacement. The two groups aren't even in the same genre. I would think that the DeLeos would be much smarter about this. I do not like LP whatsoever, but unimportant, it just seems like there was no trying for them. In the past STP had the respect to dissolve or remake as a new name, Kretz and DeLeos knew this. Weiland is a great singer but too many personal problems, but this is also what makes their music great. His solo work is great. It comes from his bullshit substance problems... Fuck this, though. Scott made this about wanting more money for himself? Ugh. Sometimes I wish there were better options, first comes to mind is the singer for Filter, but I just look now and I guess they are still writing music.
If they make new songs under the STP name, okay, I don't like it, but at least they are not slaughtering Lady Picture Show or Down. I do not want to think of this happening.
