Is this what happens when poor self-esteem becomes desperation such that any 'other' mortal is placed on a pedestal, and is the humiliation and emasculation of the abusive behavior not an affirmation of said pathetic desperation? Is it just lowered standards and expectations? What of happiness and tranquility?
