Songs with lots of key changes and special extensions while remaining coherent without sounding too random are rare, it's usually said that voice leading helps stabilizing harmonies. I just play for the feel of it, but I'm kind of getting fed up unless I use a different tuning system other than 12-TET, but I just wouldn't know how microtonal chords should be written down.
